OUR FOOD
Here at The Nog Inn we serve freshly cooked British pub food all day, every day. We offer a wide variety of classic pub dishes to suit every occasion and every appetite. Food is served from midday through to 9pm (10pm on Friday & Saturday) every day of the week, including bank holidays.
With pub classics like fish and chips, created using fresh home made beer batter, our food is always comforting.
If you just want a quick bite to eat at lunchtime our sandwiches & jacket potatoes are just the ticket.
Our younger customers are not forgotten either, a special menu dedicated to those under the age of 10 years old, and all for only £4.95 – and that includes a drink & an ice cream.
All of our food is home made by Will & Chris on the premises and freshly prepared to order. In a hurry? Why not phone your order through. Just give us a call on 01963 32998 with your request and the time you’d like to eat, and we’ll have it ready for you!
OUR DRINKS
Our pub is proud to serve a great range of both alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks to suit your mood and complement our traditional British food.
REAL ALE
One of the greatest British pub traditions is cask ale. Will works very hard to look after our real ales so that you are always served the perfect pint. Our regular ales are Otter Bitter and Sharp’s Own, and in addition to these we like to offer a couple of guest ales which we try and source from both local brewers and some from further afield.
We are very proud to have won several CAMRA awards in recent years for our ales.
Following on from our win as CAMRA “Heart of Wessex” Pub of the Year 2011, we were thrilled to go on and be named as the Wessex CAMRA Regional 2011 Pub of the Year. The Wessex & Channel Isles region is made of East Dorset, East Hampshire, Guernsey, Heart of Wessex, Isle of Wight, Jersey, North Hampshire, Portsmouth & South East Hampshire, Salisbury & South Wiltshire, South Hampshire and West Dorset. This award put us in the top 16 pubs in the country – an achievement which we are very proud of.
We have also recently discovered that we have won for the second year in a row, the CAMRA Heart of Wessex Pub of the Year 2012 and we will be working hard to maintain the excellent standards of our ales to try and impress the judges!
WINES
Our wine list is varied to suit our guests’ tastes and our range includes your favourite grapes from the best producing wine countries. You can enjoy a delicious Pinot Grigio from Italy, or a lovely Shiraz from Australia. All of our wines are sold by the glass in 125ml, 175ml and 250ml measures, as well as by the bottle.
LAGER & STOUT
We like to stock quality products, and as such don’t necessarily have lagers that everyone is familiar with. Kaltenberg Hell is a smooth and refreshing blond lager beer, and Staropramen a premium Czech beer. Always on offer is Erdinger Weiss, a very refreshing traditional German beer, and we have a guest pump for the more unusual Belgian or German beers.
Instead of the ubiquitous Guinness we offer a traditional English stout called Dark Side from Bath Ales. A more challenging mouthful than the Irish tuff, it rewards with lots of caramel flavour and a great bitter sweet finish.
Everyone has different taste in cider so we try and accommodate. Keg cider is the standard medium Stowford Press at 4.5% ABV, and we also have Lilley’s Cider “Apples & Pears” at 5.2%.
Still farmhouse ciders vary depending on availability, but we usually have several available, more often than not including Kingston Black at 7.5% and Crazy Goat 6.8%.
We have an extensive range of soft drinks, and in addition to all your usual favourite juices and J20s, we offer Fentimens Ginger Beer and the delicious Orchard Pig range.
HOT DRINKS
We are proud to serve coffee from The Italian Connection, a firm with local links to Wincanton. Indulge in one of our delicious coffees, teas or hot chocolates whether to wake you up in the morning or to keep you refreshed throughout the day.
